TUI AG has confirmed it will not bid for smaller TUI Travel following an assessment of present market conditions. TUI AG made the statement in accordance with the UK City Code of Takeovers & Mergers, with the company now banned from launching a takeover bid within six months.

The development of the Toscana Resort Castelfalfi has taken a major step forward with the opening of the first hotel. The boutique hotel La Tabaccaia, in the walls of the village’s former tobacco factory, opened on schedule on 6 October. The 3-star hotel with 32 rooms is the first of three hotels planned for the resort.

Boeing and the Europe-based TUI Travel have signed a five-year agreement to provide 787 Dreamliner flight, maintenance and cabin safety training. Boeing also announced at the Farnborough International Airshow it will place a second 787 full-flight simulator at its European training headquarters at London Gatwick to support the training requirements of the TUI Group and European 787 customers.
