TUI plans to bring around 1.5 million customers to Turkey this summer – increasing its capacity across all markets compared to 2019 levels. One million of these customers will be travelling to Antalya and as a key destination to TUI’s growth strategy, it’s naming one of its newest aircraft Antalya.

TUI UK & Ireland, which operates holiday brands Thomson and First Choice, has announced the decision to close its Coventry office by December 2015. The company also confirmed it has entered into a consultation process with staff based at the office as it announces proposals regarding the future operating model of its contact centres, which includes the relocation of roles to other UK sites.

TUI AG has reached agreement on the terms of a recommended all-share nil-premium merger of TUI Travel and TUI AG, which is to be implemented by way of a scheme of arrangement of TUI Travel. Under the merger, TUI Travel Shareholders (other than TUI AG and certain connected parties) will receive 0.399 New TUI AG Shares for each TUI Travel Share held by them at the scheme record time.

Peter Long, chief executive of TUI Travel, has met with Portia Simpson-Miller, prime minister of Jamaica, earlier while on a trip to the island to celebrate the opening of the Sensatori Jamaica resort, and discussed with her the role of TUI Travel in the future of Jamaica’s tourism. Thomson, part of TUI UK & Ireland, now operates more flights to Jamaica than any other European Airline.
