Heathrow welcomed a record 5.72 million passengers in November, up 2.5 per cent on last year, alongside a 4.4 per cent growth in cargo volumes. At the same time, London Stansted recorded its busiest ever November as over 1.7 million passengers passed through the terminal during the month, an increase of 2.3 per cent over the same month last year.

Seven companies have been contracted by Heathrow to design plans for the airport’s sustainable expansion. The group – Amec Foster Wheeler, Arup, Atkins, Grimshaw, Mott MacDonald, Jacobs and Quod – will now be known as the Integrated Design Team. The seven were chosen because of their experience in delivering projects of similar size, breadth and importance as an expanded Heathrow.
