Record winter figures for UK airports
Heathrow welcomed a record 5.72 million passengers in November, up 2.5 per cent on last year, alongside a 4.4 per cent growth in cargo volumes. At the same time, London Stansted recorded its busiest ever November as over 1.7 million passengers passed through the terminal during the month, an increase of 2.3 per cent over the same month last year.
Heathrow unveils design team for third runway
Seven companies have been contracted by Heathrow to design plans for the airport’s sustainable expansion. The group – Amec Foster Wheeler, Arup, Atkins, Grimshaw, Mott MacDonald, Jacobs and Quod – will now be known as the Integrated Design Team. The seven were chosen because of their experience in delivering projects of similar size, breadth and importance as an expanded Heathrow.
UK government warned on Heathrow emissions
The Committee on Climate Change has warned the UK government the decision to allow expansion at Heathrow Airport must be consistent with the commitment to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Emissions from aviation are a relatively small but increasingly important source of UK greenhouse gas emissions - making up six per cent of total emissions in 2014.

World Travel Market 2016: Oman Air moves to Terminal 4 at London Heathrow
Oman Air has confirmed both of its daily Muscat to London flights will move to Terminal 4 at London Heathrow Airport from January 31st, 2017. Currently the twice daily Oman Air flights operate from Terminals 3 and 4; the presence at just one terminal at one of the world’s busiest airports will further streamline the customer journey on one of Oman Air’s flagship routes.
Qatar Airways Airbus A350 touches down at London Heathrow
Qatar Airways’ first daily regularly-scheduled Airbus A350 service to London Heathrow arrived in the United Kingdom earlier, as the airline introduced the state-of-the-art aircraft on the route. The aircraft joins the airline’s Airbus A380, Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 aircraft currently operating the route.
Heathrow: British business will benefit from day one
In the first major speech from the airport since the government’s decision to back expansion of Heathrow, development director Phil Wilbraham has argued British businesses of all sizes would benefit from the decision from day one. Speaking at London Build 2016, he announced the airport would begin signing initial contracts with engineers, architects and planning consultants within days and set out Heathrow’s vision to leverage the skills and expertise of British industry across the country.
Heathrow welcomes government expansion decision
Heathrow has welcomed the government’s decision to support its expansion and confirmed it will begin work to deliver the new runway that will connect all of Britain to the world. The decision declares Britain “open for business”, according to the airport. Expanding Heathrow will keep Britain growing at the heart of the global economy, do more than any other infrastructure project to share economic growth all around the UK and deliver more competition and choice for passengers, added Heathrow.
Heathrow expansion wins UK government approval
The expansion of Heathrow Airport in London is likely to be approved by a committee of ministers later today. Ministers approved the decision at the cabinet committee meeting on Tuesday morning, with the decision set to be made public later today.
IAG warns over passenger costs following Heathrow decision
International Airlines Group has welcomed the decision to expand Heathrow but at the same time has warned the government cost to customers must not increase from today’s level if the airport is to have a future. Willie Walsh, IAG chief executive, said: “We’re pleased that a decision has finally been made but the cost of this project will make or break it.”
London runway decision to be made tomorrow
Chris Grayling, transport secretary for Britain, has revealed the long awaited decision about a new runway at one of London’s airports will finally be made on Tuesday. The proposals for expansion include a new runway to the north west of Heathrow Airport, an extension of Heathrow’s existing northern runway or a new runway to the south of Gatwick Airport.
