Seven people have died following a light aircraft crash in the Dominican Republic, with the dead believed to include the pilot and six tourists. The single-engine Piper PA-32 came down shortly after take-off from Punta Cana Airport on route to Arroyo Barril Airport, Samana.

Carnival Corporation today announced it will begin welcoming guests at its newly developed Amber Cove port in the Dominican Republic beginning October 2015. Six of Carnival Corporation’s nine brands will call on Amber Cove along the country’s Amber Coast – a partial filming location for the original Jurassic Park movie – to give cruise passengers another exotic location to explore as part of their vacation experience.
The Expedia group, one of the world’s largest online travel companies, has announced the opening of offices in Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, the company’s first local offices in the Dominican Republic. “As one of the Expedia group’s top producing destinations within the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic is an in-demand market with 305 hotel partners,” said Demetrius Canton, director of lodging partner services for the Caribbean, the Expedia group.
IHG has announced the groundbreaking on a 20-story, 225-room InterContinental hotel located in the Piantini neighbourhood of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Air Europa is upping its flights to Santo Domingo from April 01st 2013. The decision follows that of Iberia to axe the Spanish Caribbean from its route network. Meanwhile, TUI Travel and British Airways have also outlined plans to boost capacity to the destination.
