Boeing and Scoot have announced the delivery of the Singapore-based airline’s first 787 Dreamliner. The airplane will play a key role in the low-cost carrier’s strategic plan to expand its long-haul fleet. “We are excited to be taking delivery of our very first 787 Dreamliner,” said Scoot chief executive Campbell Wilson.

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has introduced its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner into commercial service. The first flight, operated by a Boeing 787-9, departed Abu Dhabi at 02:15 as flight EY23 for the seven hour 25 minute flight to Düsseldorf, Germany.Also today, Etihad revealed it carried a record number of passengers and cargo in 2014, marking its strongest operational performance to date. Almost 14.8 million passengers flew with Etihad Airways last year, a significant increase of 23 per cent over 2013 levels.

American Airlines has officially welcomes its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner. American took delivery of the airplane, a 787-8 with registration number N800AN, on Thursday at Boeing’s factory in Everett, Washington, and it is scheduled to arrive in Dallas/Fort Worth on Friday afternoon. “We are committed to delivering a fantastic product for our customers with the continuation of our unprecedented fleet renewal program and more than $2 billion in improvements in the customer experience,” said Doug Parker, American’s chairman.

Boeing and Air Europa have announced an order for 14 787-9 Dreamliners, valued at $3.6 billion at list prices, the largest ever Boeing widebody order from a Spanish carrier. The order was booked in December 2014 and was previously attributed to an unidentified customer on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website. Air Europa now has a combined total of 22 787-8s and 787-9s on order as it continues its transition to an all-Boeing long-haul fleet.

Boeing and Air New Zealand have finalised an order for two additional 787-9 Dreamliners, valued at $514 million at current list prices. The order, booked in 2014, comes six months after Air New Zealand celebrated the first 787-9 delivery in July. “The entry into service program has gone very smoothly and we’ve been incredibly pleased with the aircraft’s performance,” said Christopher Luxon, chief executive officer, Air New Zealand.

Boeing delivered Etihad Airways’ first 787-9 Dreamliner sporting the airline’s new ‘Facets of Abu Dhabi’ livery which was revealed at a ceremony earlier this year. The colours are reminiscent of the desert landscape, inspired by the culture, Islamic design and architecture motifs of the United Arab Emirates. The airplane is the first of the 71 Dreamliners that the national airline of the United Arab Emirates has on order which includes 41 787-9s and 30 787-10s.

Boeing and Royal Air Maroc have celebrated the arrival into Morocco of its first 787 Dreamliner. The airline will be the first carrier in the Mediterranean region to operate the 787. The airplane flew a 4,788 nautical mile non-stop flight to Royal Air Maroc’s home base in Casablanca at Mohammed V International Airport.

Boeing and its employees joined the Puget Sound community today in celebrating the donation of one of the original 787-8 Dreamliner flight test airplanes to the Museum of Flight in Seattle. “Boeing is committed to supporting and giving back to the communities where our employees work and live,” said Boeing Commercial Airplanes president Ray Conner. “By placing this airplane in the Puget Sound area, members of the Boeing team and their families will see it displayed locally, and it will hopefully inspire a new generation of aviation enthusiasts here in Washington state.”

Boeing and Virgin Atlantic Airways are celebrating the delivery of the airline’s first 787-9 Dreamliner. The airline is the first European airline to take delivery of the 787-9 and plans to operate the airplane initially on its London Heathrow to Boston route. Virgin Atlantic’s first 787-9 touched down at London’s Gatwick Airport following a more than 7,400 kilometre non-stop flight from Paine Field in Everett, Washington.
