Second Boeing 787 Dreamliner Completes First Flight
The second Boeing (NYSE: BA) 787 Dreamliner, ZA002, completed its first flight today. The all-new airplane, which features the livery of the Dreamliner’s launch customer, ANA (All Nippon Airways) of Japan, took off from Paine Field in Everett, completed a two-hour flight and landed at Boeing Field in Seattle.
United $10bn order signals aviation recovery
The aviation industry has received one of the clearest signals yet of embarking on the road to recovery after United Airlines placed an order for 50 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus, worth almost $10bn, and marks its first order in over a decade.
Boeing Dreamliner hit with further delays
Boeing has once again been forced to delay the maiden flight of its new eco-friendly 787 Dreamliner, despite announcing at last week’s Paris Air Show that it would be airbourne by the end of this month.The Seattle-based manufacturer said a side section of the aircraft needs to be reinforced, making it “several weeks” before it is able to confirm a new flight and delivery schedule.
New delays for Dreamliner project
Boeing has updated its schedule for the all-new 787 Dreamliner program that moves the commercial jet’s first flight into the second quarter of 2009 and first delivery into the first quarter of 2010.
