Centara rebrands hotels in Thailand following close of Accor deal

Three of Thailand’s best-known hotels will change their names as the bells ring in the New Year 2012. Sofitel Centara Grand Bangkok will become Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok, Sofitel Centara Grand Resort & Villas Hua Hin will become Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin, and Novotel Hat Yai Centara will become Centara Hotel Hat Yai.

As part of its Asset Management program, hotel giant Accor has sold the hotel Mercure Warszawa Fryderyk Chopin to Echo Investment for €31 million. Located in the business centre of Warsaw, this 250-room hotel will be transformed into an office building.

Accor has continued to build toward its stated aim of operating 300 hotels in the United Kingdom by 2015 with the signing of a franchise agreement with Jupiter Hotels, the new owners of the former Jarvis hotels. In what is the biggest franchise deal for Accor this year, 24 hotels - or 2,664 rooms - will open under the Mercure hotel brand across the UK, bringing the total number of Mercure hotels in the UK to 68.

Hotel operator Accor is set to realise its ambition to increase the UK network to 300 hotels by 2015 with the signing of a franchise agreement with Jupiter Hotels Ltd, the new owners of the former Jarvis hotels. This is a landmark deal for the UK hotel industry in 2011.
