Banyan Tree signs innovative partnership with Accor

Banyan Tree Holdings has announced that it has entered into an agreement with AccorHotels designed to allow the French hospitality giant to design and manage Banyan Tree branded hotels around the world. AccorHotels will invest an initial €16 million in Singapore-based Banyan Tree and both parties will then co-develop the brands owned by Banyan Tree.

AccorHotels has seen global revenues slip by two per cent to €2,598 million over the first half of 2016, while EBIT fell four per cent to €239 million. Sébastien Bazin, chairman of AccorHotels, said: “With several of our key markets, including France and Brazil, shaken by crises and violent events, the group showed remarkable resilience in the first half of 2016.

AccorHotels has launched a project to create a dedicated subsidiary for its HotelInvest operations. AccorHotels will open its new flagship Novotel in London’s Canary Wharf to guests this year. The Novotel Canary Wharf is situated at 40 Marsh Street and at 127 metres high is set to be one of the tallest buildings in the area. The hotel will comprise of 313 rooms including 26 suites.

AccorHotels has announced a new hotel signing in Bridgwater Somerset, increasing its footprint in the south-west of England. The Mercure Bridgwater will provide over 100 rooms, and will open in the autumn 2017. Mercure Bridgwater has signed under a franchise by DC Hotels which has been heavily involved in the transformation Bridgwater has undergone in recent years.
