Vietjet signs $3bn engine deal with Pratt & Whitney

Vietjet has signed an agreement with Pratt & Whitney to provide PurePower Geared Turbofan engines for the airlines order of 63 Airbus A320neo and A321 aircraft.

“We are very pleased to choose the PurePower Geared Turbofan engine for our Airbus A320neo and A321neo fleet,” said Madam Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, president, Vietjet.

“With its advanced design, the new engines are expected to reduce fuel costs and CO2 emissions, boosting the carrier’s efficiency and reducing environmental impact, whilst enabling Vietjet to offer passengers more affordable air fares.”

The agreement is worth US$3 billion and deliveries are expected to begin in 2017.
