Seychelles President on working visit to India this week
The Seychelles President, Mr. James Michel will be traveling to India this week to address the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit 2012, which will be inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The Seychelles President attended the summit in 2011, and is expected to make an address concerning the challenges of small islands states in the face of continuing climate change, as well as key targets for international climate change negotiations in the future.
The Seychelles President, Mr. James Michel, was invited to 12th edition of the summit of World Sustainable Development Forum under the theme “Protecting the Global Commons: 20 years post Rio,” which is organized by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi.
The Delhi Sustainable Development Summit will also be attended by the Finnish President, Ms. Tarja Halonen, and the President of Kiribati, Mr. Anote Tong, as well as former heads of state and heads of governments and decision-makers from governments, the private sector, NGOs, multi/bilateral organizations, academia, and research institutions.
Nobel Laureate Dr. Elinor Ostrom (Professor, Columbia University, USA); former Deputy Prime Minister of the UK, Mr. John Prescott; and the former Governor of California (USA), Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger; will also address the conference.
