Royal couple heading for Canada on first trip

Prince William and Kate Middleton will visit Canada on their first official overseas trip it has been confirmed.

In a statement released earlier, St James’s Palace said the newlyweds would visit the Commonwealth nation from June 30th to July 8th.

Westminster Abbey will host their wedding on April 29th.

The decision was taken following a personal invitation from Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper.

Following the announcement Harper said the decision proved the “very close relationship with the Royal Family”.

He is believed to have invited the couple to Canada after they announced their engagement in November.

They will visit the provinces of Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and the capital, Ottowa during the stay.

Canada Day celebrations take place in Ottawa on July 1st.

Prince William and Ms Middleton were engaged in Kenya.
