Ritz-Carlton sets date for world’s tallest hotel

Ritz-Carlton has confirmed its new International Commerce Centre hotel will open in March next year.

Situated between on the 102nd-108th floors of the Hong Kong-based development, the hotel is expected to be the tallest hotel in the world.

At a press conference earlier Ritz-Carlton Hotel president and chief operating officer Simon Cooper explained the company saw Hong Kong as one of the greatest cities in the world, and stated they are delighted to be returning with a dynamic and iconic hotel like this.

The top 16 floors of the ICC tower is a truly unique location for a hotel, as it offers panoramic views across Hong Kong Island and Victoria Harbour, he continued.

“The hotel will be the heart and soul of Kowloon with its modern design, which will also attract visitors from everywhere for its world-class style, service and landmark location,” he said.

The Hong Kong building is 484 meters high and is the 4th tallest in the world.

The finishing touches are being made on the ICC, where Ritz-Carlton will offer 312 rooms and six dining areas.

There will also be a lobby lounge and an alfresco rooftop bar.

Also on the roof will be an indoor pool, which will be the highest pool in the world, taking the title from the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

World Mobi

Also in Asia this week, World Mobi launched its new city guide to Hong Kong.

World Mobi offers the most comprehensive mobile travel guides available, with over 800 cities in 200 countries listed. Each is developed by the World Mobi team to combine into a single global travel directory.

HongKong.Mobi is the latest in this illustrious line up, offering click to call functionality – which means no scribbling down telephone numbers.

Most entries are also linked to websites where users can quickly access more detailed information if needed.

Other key features include information on accommodation, restaurants, attractions, entertainment, nightlife, shopping, and transport.

World.Mobi guides include user reviews and traveller utilities such as a translation guide, currency converter, news and local weather guide.
