Fred Olsen cruises outlines fuel surcharged pledge

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has announced a No Fuel Surcharge Guarantee on all bookings made up to, and including, August 31st 2011.

Any fuel cost supplement already applied to 2012 bookings – currently levied at 5.5 per cent of the cruise fare paid after any relevant discounts have been deducted – will remain on the booking.

However, the ‘No Fuel Surcharge Guarantee’ now provides protection against any future fuel-related fare increases.

Nigel Lingard, marketing director of Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, said: “As we plan ahead for the 2012/13 cruise programme, we hope that this ‘No Fuel Surcharge Guarantee’ will provide reassurance to guests booking 2012/13 cruises up to 31st August 2011 that their fare is protected from any future fuel increases.”

The offer is valid for cruises departing from January 1st 2012.

“We are acutely aware of the problems and uncertainty caused by this year’s surge in oil prices, with the consequent need for extra charges related to fuel costs,” added Lingard.

“We, therefore, encourage guests to book at the earliest opportunity to take advantage of this ‘No Fuel Surcharge Guarantee’, particularly as we can only hold the offer until the end of August this year.”
