Orbitz renews Hertz deal

Orbitz Worldwide is renewing its distribution partnership with The Hertz Corporation,
the world’s largest general use car rental brand. Orbitz Worldwide will
continue to offer Hertz rental cars across its group of brands, including
Orbitz, CheapTickets, and corporate travel brands, Orbitz for Business and
Travelport for Business (http://www.travelportcorporatesolutions.com), in
the United States.
The agreement also includes and allows for merchandising and marketing
opportunities to take place between the two companies.
Through this comprehensive multi-year partnership, Orbitz Worldwide
will be able to continue offering its customers some of the best available
online rates for Hertz vehicles. This includes stand alone car rentals as
well as rentals purchased as part of travel packages (e.g., air+hotel+car
bookings). Working to provide customers with even more Hertz rental
options, Orbitz Worldwide is expanding its rental car inventory to feature
Hertz’s Fun Collection and Green Collection vehicles.
The Hertz Green Collection features cars with the EPA’s SmartWay (1)
certification, indicating lower emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse
gases. With more than 35,000 cars in the Green Collection, Hertz guarantees
availability at 50 major airport locations across the United States. The
Green Collection cars have an average EPA highway rating of 31 MPG, and a
vast majority of Green Collection cars are also SmartWay certified.
“We are delighted to continue and expand our relationship with Hertz in
order to provide our customers with a large selection of high-quality
vehicles,” said Sam Fulton, Vice President and General Manager,
Transportation, Orbitz Worldwide. “Distribution partnerships with great
brands like Hertz help Orbitz Worldwide assure our customers they’ll get
the best rates and trip they expect from all our brands.”
“Hertz values its relationship with Orbitz Worldwide as Orbitz is one
of the leading online travel agencies that have multiple platforms for
selling the Hertz product,” said Frank Camacho, Staff Vice President,
Marketing for Hertz. “As a leading provider of rental cars, we pride
ourselves on offering customers a wide selection of cars for rent. With our
Orbitz partnership, we’re now able to offer Hertz’s wide selection of
inventory to a variety of online audiences.”
