Abu Dhabi sees record growth in guest arrivals

Abu Dhabi has achieved a record seven per cent rise in the number of hotel guest arrivals over the first four months of the year in comparison to the same period in 2016.

A total of 1,601,145 guests checking into the emirate’s hotels and hotel apartments during the period.

The UK has made an excellent start to the year, with 86,529 British visitors checking into Abu Dhabi hotels in the first third of 2017, a four per cent increase year on year.

April was an especially strong month, with the appeal of spending Easter in Abu Dhabi seeing a 16.24 per cent year-on-year increase in April hotel guests.

This makes the UK the third largest overseas source market for international visitors into the emirate, behind China and India.

Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general, TCA Abu Dhabi, said: “Following a record year for the number of guest arrivals into the emirate in 2016, we welcome this increase as we continue to pursue our target of attracting 4.9 million visitors by the end of 2017.”
