I have stayed in many hotels around the world, but I have never been anywhere you receive a hand massage as you check-in, a luxury given to every guest at Live Aqua Resort in Cancún.

This warm welcome immediately puts you in a relaxing mood and, due to the excellent service from the guest management team, I was able to stay relaxed for my whole two day stay.

Your senses are heightened by the various diffusing essential oils as you move around the resort, part of Live Aqua’s exquisite charm.

It makes it the perfect place for the luxury seeking, all-inclusive client, rising above the neighbouring all-inclusive venues as it does with its stunning design, impeccable service, and impressive restaurants.

The hotel is only an hours’ drive north from its sister hotel, Live Aqua Boutique Playa Del Carmen.

This striking part of Cancún has the spectacular beaches that have made this region so appealing to visitors.

Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancún can best be described as a luxury, adults only, all-inclusive resort, and is blessed with one of the best locations in the region.

The main building boasts 371 rooms, each overlooking one of eight pools and framed by the breath-taking Caribbean Sea.

The suites are all large, with a hot tub in the bedroom, a balcony and modern living area.

In each room there is a choice of aromatherapy oils, each with a different scent, and I would recommend the mint, rosemary, ginger and sandalwood.

The minibar is well stocked with drinks and snacks and you also have the option of stocking up from the hotel shop if you run short.

Suite guests and members of the loyalty program have access to the private Aqua Club Lounge on the fifth floor.

With floor to ceiling views of the resort and ocean it’s hard not to take a second to admire the view, and guests can help themselves to delicious canapés and premium class beverages.

The public areas are vast, but there are some secluded hideaways and relaxing areas if you look.

There are different pools for different activities: a quiet pool, one for more serious swimmers, a dramatic infinity pool, and the always popular hot tub that gets busy for sundowners.

Rest assured there are no shortage of sun loungers to enjoy and there’s even the option to hire a Cabana on the beach for the day, it’s a great place to tan and unwind.

The attentive waiters are never hard to find and will keep you topped up with the all-inclusive drinks.

Hiring the cabanas also comes with the bonus of a complimentary foot massage and, although there is an extra charge of $70, it is well worth it.

The only other add-on is the spa which offers a wide range of indulging treatments.

The resort prides itself on its restaurants; you will never get bored of eating here.

There is an Italian eatery nestled under the mangrove trees outdoors and the Sea Corner beach shack is popular for lunch, serving delicious tacos and ceviche.

Take the advice of the friendly waiter and take a shot of his Mexican water – Tequila!

Elegant evening dining is at its best at MB’s restaurant; with its sophisticated atmosphere and stylish setting, it’s perfect for romantic diners.

The main restaurant, Siete, offers an amazing breakfast buffet, with a not-to-be-missed smoothie and juice bar that will keep your energy up after a few too many the night before.

The interior is bright and colourful with the pillars ordained with screen prints of Mexican pop culture icons.

There are daily activities on offer to keep you busy, but it doesn’t feel loud and intrusive like some of the places in the region can be.

The resort has been cleverly designed to create a feeling of seclusion and calm.

The early morning yoga class is held in a beautiful shala under the mangrove trees, offering classes for beginners as well as those who are more advanced.

There’s also the choice of cooking lessons, Spanish lessons, beach volleyball, football and water aerobics to name a few.

Live Aqua Cancún is the one stop shop for any couple looking for the perfect, luxury, romantic get-a-way.

It really couldn’t get much better than this!
