Following Germany’s World Cup exit: Eurowings reports strong bookings as holiday season begins

Following the German national team’s early exit from the World Cup, many people want just one thing: vacation! Eurowings has reported a significant rise in bookings since the DFB’s defeat by Paraguay – both for flights and for holiday packages from its tour operator Eurowings Holidays. Just in time for the start of the summer holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany’s most populous federal state, the desire to travel is growing noticeably.

On the first weekend of the holidays, Eurowings will fly around 270,000 passengers to their summer holidays. This increase in bookings confirms a trend that Eurowings Holidays has also been observing since mid-May: package holiday bookings with the last-minute specialist are currently around 70 per cent higher than last year. Many customers are booking at shorter notice than in previous years: most Eurowings Holidays trips in May and June were booked less than 42 days before departure. Mallorca and holiday destinations in Greece are currently in particularly high demand, with bookings for the peak season having more than doubled at times.

Start the holidays well prepared
To ensure the holiday gets off as relaxed as possible, Eurowings recommends being well prepared. A particularly handy feature is that online check-in and check-in via the app are available already 72 hours before departure. This means that boarding passes are secured early on, leaving more time on the day of travel to make the way through the airport. It’s also worth taking a look at the latest baggage rules and airport services. Depending on the airport, passengers can use digital self-service options such as baggage machines or check-in the evening before. Passengers can find all information about check-in, baggage, airport services and travel preparation at eurowings.com.
