Necker Island has reopened following a fire on August 22nd which destroyed the eight-bedroom Great House. The private island, owned by Virgin Group chairman Richard Branson, is part of the British Virgin Islands.
Enterprise – the suborbital spacecraft developed by Virgin Galactic – has successfully completed its first manned free flight. The craft was released from its mothership at an altitude of 45,000 ft before successfully gliding to land at Mojave Air & Spaceport.
Virgin Unite has confirmed it will launch a Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship in the Caribbean in the first half of 2011. The non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group will look to support aspiring entrepreneurs aged 18-35-years-old, in the creation and growth of small businesses in the Caribbean.

The billionaire investor has confirmed his Virgin Group will seek to expand into the luxury hotel market in north American over the next three years.
Virgin Blue Holdings has seen stocks soar this morning following a return to profitability for financial 2010 and confirmation of a major linkup with Etihad Airways. The agreement will see VBH’s international arm - V Australia - launch direct services to Abu Dhabi in 2011, with the two airlines subsequently offering a joint network of more than 100 destinations.

Virgin Atlantic has sparked outrage after awarding senior managers a 40 percent pay rise, despite announcing 600 possible job cuts on Wednesday due to week demand.Staff have accused chief executive, Steve Ridgway, of a lack of moral leadership after his salary rose from £500,000 to £700,000. Meanwhile the combined pay of the top three directors rose from £1.4 million to £2 million, according to company accounts.
Up to 600 jobs are under threat at Virgin Atlantic after the carrier announced it was cutting back on its winter services. The airline is reducing the number of flights by seven percent compared to last year in response to falling sales. These include cutting its Heathrow-Chicago daily service, and reducing its service between Heathrow and Hong Kong from two to one per day.
Virgin Atlantic, has announced a $36;2.1billion order for 10 new Airbus A330-300 aircraft which will be delivered from early 2011. Five of the aircraft will arrive in 2011 and five in 2012.
