fastjet’s first flight between Johannesburg in South Africa and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe took to the skies earlier, marking an important milestone in the pan-African airline’s growth plans. The flight was fastjet’s first international route from Victoria Falls and was launched in response to strong passenger and tour operator demand from within the South African market.

fastjet has increased the number of flights on its route between Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Nairobi in Kenya in response to strong passenger demand. From March 21st, fastjet will offer two daily return flights between each city every day of the week, making a total of 28 flights per week between Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport and Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

fastjet has announced it will commence flights to Victoria Falls from Johannesburg on March 25th, 2016, in response to strong passenger and tour operator demand from within the South African market. Services between Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport and Victoria Falls International Airport will operate using fastjet’s modern Airbus A319 jet aircraft with seating for up to 156 passengers.

fastjet’s inaugural flight between Harare in Zimbabwe and Johannesburg in South Africa took off earlier, marking the low-cost airline’s newest international route in Africa. Flight FN8102 departed Harare International Airport at 06:15 and landed in Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport at 07:55. The return FN8108 flight from Johannesburg took off at 08:40 and was welcomed back to Harare at 10:15.

fastjet has confirmed its newest international routes will be from Harare and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to Johannesburg, South Africa. The launch of these routes is as a result of fastjet Zimbabwe receiving clearance from the Zimbabwean and South African governments to operate flights between the two respective countries.

fastjet has been granted an Air Operator Certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe. The AOC designates fastjet Zimbabwe as a Zimbabwean airline licenced to operate both domestic and international routes within and from Zimbabwe. fastjet Zimbabwe is now the second airline in the fastjet network.

fastjet operations in Tanzania have reported a record number of passengers in August 2015, carrying a total of 76,741 passengers during the month. The load factor for August was 75 per cent. The increase in passengers is in part due to the new routes to Malawi introduced in July 2015 and to increased frequency on some existing routes.
