Vueling plane forced into emergency landing at Schiphol

A plane operated by Spanish low-cost carrier Schiphol has been forced to make an emergency landing at Schiphol airport in the Netherlands are a security alert.

Dutch F-16 fighter jets were scrambled to accompany the plane down after an apparent high-jacking, which later turned out to be a false alarm.

Dutch forced boarded the plane once on the tarmac at Schiphol to discover the error.

A miscommunication between the pilot of the plane and the control tower reportedly triggered the confusion.

The airline said on Twitter: “Amsterdam’s protocol for security was activated owing to a temporary loss of communication between the plane and air traffic control.”
