Turner awarded $100 Million Contract to Manage Multi-Phase Renovation of Harrah’s Cherokee Hotel

Turner Construction Company, the nation’s leading general builder, has been awarded a $100 million contract to manage the renovation and expansion of Harrah’s Cherokee Hotel Casino in Cherokee, N.C. Construction is underway with completion of the multi-phased project scheduled for January 2013.

The Harrah’s Cherokee Hotel Casino Renovation and Expansion Project will add 110,000 sq. ft. gaming floor area to the casino while renovating the existing 130,000 sq. ft. gaming floor. The scope of work will also provide new modern bars, restaurants and entertainment stages to the casino and hotel. Additional features of the renovated resort will be a 70 foot interior waterfall and a rotunda area that will change lighting and sounds with the changing seasons.

The Harrah’s Cherokee Hotel Casino project is part of one of the largest hospitality programs underway in the U.S. Managed by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the renovation and expansion program doubles the size of the existing casino, hotel and parking facilities, in addition to adding a first-class spa, entertainment and dining amenities to attract visitors from throughout the Southeast and across the nation.

Turner is also working on the $120 million contract to for the 500,000 sq. ft. Cherokee Hotel Tower III at the resort. The Hotel Tower is scheduled for completion in December 2010.
