OC Transpo’s Larry Langevin receives City of Ottawa’s Award for Heroism

Mr. Langevin received the City of Ottawa Award for Heroism for his quick response to a house fire on Cavan Street on April 22 of this year. Without hesitation, he stopped his bus and ran to alert residents in adjacent homes and assist four people in escaping the raging fire. He also provided them shelter on the bus and administered immediate aid to a woman who received back and ankle injuries after jumping from a second-storey window.
After realizing a fifth person was in the home, Mr. Langevin tried to re-enter the home but thick black smoke and flames stopped him. Unfortunately, despite his brave efforts, the fire claimed the life of that individual.
The event could have had a far more tragic ending and Larry Langevin’s selfless and heroic actions were directly responsible for saving lives
