Lord Coe to join London 2012 Olympic relay

LOCOG chairman Lord Coe will join the Olympic torch relay today, as the emblem of the games makes it through his home city of Sheffield.

Today is day 38 of the relay, with 142 torchbearers scheduled to carry the flame on its journey from Leeds to Sheffield.

The route will cover 76 miles.

The flame will leave Leeds to travel south, ending the day with celebrations in Barkers Pool, in the centre of Sheffield.

The relay will also travel through Huntslet, Beeston, Morley, Batley, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Castleford, Pontefract, Ackworth, Lundwood, Barnsley, Darton, Kexbrough, Chapeltown, Ecclesfield and Parson Cross before ending the day in Sheffield.

Olympic Relay

A total of 8,000 people will carry the flame during its 8,000 mile, 70-day journey to the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London on July 27th.
