World-renowned Jamaican resort Half Moon has revealed it will undergo an extensive 18-month renovation, beginning in May 2017.

Scheduled for completion in October 2018, the second phase of the US$75 million Half Moon Master Plan will see the introduction of new guest facilities and restaurants, expanded beach areas and accommodation, including the replacement of 44 existing offerings with the introduction of 57 new rooms and suites.

This phase follows the 2015 refurbishment of the award-winning Sugar Mill Restaurant, resort lobby, Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed golf course and the introduction of the popular Lester’s Café.

Also near completion is the centralised Back of House complex, which will open in June 2017 and provide first-rate resources, and modern facilities for Half Moon team members.

“This period of development will be an exciting time for Half Moon, which has been the chosen retreat for royalty, presidents and generations of loyal guests,” said Guy Steuart, chairman of the Half Moon board.

“Our investment demonstrates the on-going commitment to our guests and Loyalty Club members, and also our staff and the people of Jamaica.”

The expansive resort, situated on 400 acres of tropical gardens and bordered by two miles of beach front, will remain open for the duration of the development project.

“Family-owned for more than 60 years, and independently managed, Half Moon has been a landmark of world-class hospitality,” continued Steuart.

“We now look forward to welcoming a new generation of guests as we embark on this journey that will extend the legacy – refreshing, repositioning and readying Half Moon for the next 60 years.”
