Egencia expands into mobile services

Egencia – the business travel subsidiary of Expedia – has confirmed it plans to introduce a range of new mobile services in 2011, according to reports.

The first mobile application release will be available on iPhone and mobile web enabled devices in the second quarter of the year.

In an interview with Travolution, Mark Hollyhead, senior vice president Egencia Americas, explained: “We wanted to ensure that travellers could easily view their itineraries, get information, shop for air, hotel and car options on demand, and most importantly – do this on the road from any location and circumstance.”

Applications on offer are set to include a smart itinerary facility which follows travellers throughout their trip, providing relevant information.

Moreover guests can access flight schedules and online check-in; interactive maps; flight/transportation alerts; click-to-call easy access to a travel agent on the phone; local weather forecasts and support in eight languages.
