Cook Islands Tourism Corps makes senior appointment

Metua Vaiimene has been announced as the new Director of Destination Development for Cook Islands Tourism Corporation.

In his new role, he will be responsible for strengthening strategic planning both within the corporation and with industry partners, development of outer islands tourism and working with key stakeholders to ensure sustainable tourism is achieved.

Metua has spent the last seven years of his career with Air New Zealand Rarotonga whilst completing his Masters in Business Administration, which he graduated from in 2009.

Commenting on his role, Metua said “I am delighted to be appointed as Director of Destination Development with Cook Islands Tourism Corporation. The Government and the board have made a commitment to invest in destination development to achieve the objectives of the corporation and the industry as a whole. The board, along with the newly completed management team, is geared toward achieving major milestones for tourism in our country over the coming months and years, and I am thrilled to be a part of this.“

Along with his new role the Cook Islands Tourism Corporation has created a new Destination Development Department which consists of Metua as Director and Nane Papa as the product Development Coordinator.
