CHICAGO EXPANDS HOTEL OFFERINGS FOR VISITORS


Visitors to Chicago will have more hotels to choose from when an additional 1,070 hotel rooms open in the city beginning this summer through mid-2003. 

The newest hotel on the block is the Comfort Suites Chicago which opened in April 2002.  The hotel is located at 15 East Ohio Street and offers 130 rooms including 25 suites.  Special amenities range from a therapeutic whirlpool and sauna to satellite television and high-speed Internet access.

Chicago awaits the June opening of the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower, a 32-story hotel located at 20 E. Chestnut Street, downtown.  This French-inspired hotel will offer 415 luxurious guestrooms including 63 suites and two restaurants.  The hotel is ideally located near world-class shopping on the “Magnificent Mile,” sightseeing at the John Hancock Center and near the shores of picturesque Lake Michigan. 
Another hotel on the rise is the Hard Rock Hotel slated for a mid-2003 opening.  The hotel will be located at 230 N. Michigan Avenue and boast 385 guestrooms.  This urban hotel will offer music, great food and contemporary design, conveniently located near the Loop, Michigan Avenue shopping and Grant Park.
Visitors can also choose to stay at the Fitzpatrick Hotel, an old favorite with a new face located at 166 East Superior Street.  This hotel is being upgraded to a boutique style property offering an additional 100 suites and 40 executive rooms all with canopy beds.  The expansion and renovation project will be completed this summer.
In addition to these new hotels, Chicago welcomed a myriad of hotels last year, including Le Meridien Hotel, the Park Hyatt, W Hotel Chicago City Center and W Hotel Chicago Lakeshore, and the Peninsula Hotel.  Le Meridien Hotel located at 520 North Michigan Avenue opened in June 2001 and offers 313 deluxe rooms designed with the comfort of its guests in mind. 
The Park Hyatt is located in the heart of Chicago at 800 North Michigan Avenue.  The hotel offers more than 200 spacious guestrooms.  From oversized bathtubs to DVD players, every visitor can find a way to relax. 


The W Hotels were introduced to Chicago during summer 2001.  The W Chicago City Center is located at 172 West Adams Street and the W Chicago Lakeshore is located 644 North Lake Shore Drive.  Together the W Hotels offer 968 hotel rooms.  From rooftop lounges to gothic-style living rooms, each hotel is of the latest trend and offers visitors a complete Zen experience. 
The Peninsula Hotel is located at 730 North Michigan and only minutes from the historic Water Tower and world-renowned shopping.  This hotel boasts 340 guestrooms and suites with deluxe amenities as well as fine dining.
