Delta Introduces Innovative Screen Technology

Delta Air Lines
is keeping customers informed by adding new Gate Information Display Screens (GIDS) at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The digital display screens, the most advanced in the industry, provide customers with real-time, flight-specific information at every gate in Newark.

Delta’s GIDS provide customers with information they need and want, including flight status seating configuration, standby and upgrade status, and weather conditions in their destination city - even, before they ask.

“This technology was created specifically with our customers in mind. It is designed to keep customers informed by answering frequently-asked questions about their flight while reducing time spent in lines,” said Rich Cordell, senior vice-president, Delta Airport Customer Service. “GIDS are just one of the many enhancements we’re making to improve the travel experience, and I’m pleased that Newark customers will now be able to take advantage of this helpful resource.”

Customers now have access to GIDS technology in 18 cities in Delta’s domestic system, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Los Angeles, Newark, New York (Kennedy and LaGuardia), Orlando, Fla.; Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Tampa Fla.; and Washington, D.C. (Reagan). They also are located in the Delta Shuttle operations in Boston, New York and Washington, D.C.

Delta also offers eight self-service check-in kiosks in Newark, enabling e-ticketed customers to quickly check-in for their flight while avoiding lines. Newark customers also may check-in for their flight at home or at their office through delta.com.
