Sol Meliá And De Witte Lietaer Sign An International Sales Agreement

The Spanish hotel management company Sol Meliá has recently signed an international agreement with De Witte Lietaer, a company with headquarters in Waterloo, Belgium that manufactures bed, table and bathroom linen for export all over the world.


The agreement was recently signed by Sebastián Escarrer, CEO of Sol Meliá and Francis Dejonghe, Director General of the De Witte Lietaer Textile Division in Sol Meliá headquarters in Palma de Majorca.


De Witte Lietaer is a world leader in the hotel textile market and one of the most important companies in the world in aoutomobile textiles. Founded over 100 years ago, the company currently employs a staff of over 800 people.


Through this type of agreements with leading international companies, Sol Meliá aims to impriove the service provided to guests and to the owners of hotels that form part of the Spanish chain.


In recent times Sol Meliá has reached more than 30 such agreements with companies that are able to provide services and supplies to all of Sol Meliá‘s hotels, regardless of their location, thus guaranteeing the standardisation of hotel products and generating economies of scale that are boosting hotel profitability.

Sol Meliá currently operates 245 hotels in 25 countries on 4 continents. At the end of the first six months of 1998, the Spanish company declared after tax profits of 2,291 million pesetas, an increase of 22.3% over the same period in 1997. Feee revenues for management services grew by 13.3% to 6,292 million pesetas.
