The American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) has awarded its highest lodging security award, the Raymond C. Ellis, Jr. Award, to Chad Callaghan, vice president of loss prevention for Marriott International, Inc (NYSE:MAR). The award, which recognizes excellence in security within the hotel and entertainment industry, was recently presented at the ASIS 47th Annual Seminar and Exhibit in San Antonio, Texas.

“Chad has dedicated his career to delivering the highest level of safety to Marriott’s guests and to improving standards in the security industry,” said Bonnie S. Michelman, CPP, president of ASIS.
Callaghan oversees safety and security for more than 700 Marriott hotels throughout North America. He has been in the security profession for 27 years and with Marriott International for 25 years. Callaghan has collaborated on several books and articles about safety and is the co-author of an industry safety checklist. He also assisted in the development of a security video that is used to train hotel employees industrywide.

Callaghan is currently co-chairman of the ASIS Guidelines Commission, a former member of the ASIS Board of Directors, and a past chairman of the American Hotel and Lodging Association’s Security Committee. He also served on the planning council for the Atlanta Summer Olympics to ensure hotel security and is currently involved in security preparation for Marriott’s hotels in Salt Lake City, the site for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
