Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE/MAR) has appointed two new vice presidents in its international finance operations, announced Ed Fuller, president and managing director for Marriott`s international operations.

Ed Nugent has been named vice president-international operations finance, effective immediately. In his new role, Nugent is responsible for all financial operations of the company`s more than 240 hotels located outside the continental United States and Canada. His most recent position was regional vice president of finance-Continental Europe.

Jim Mrha has been advanced to regional vice president-Continental Europe. In his new position he is responsible for operations accounting for Continental Europe. Prior to this appointment, Mrha was area director of finance for Germany and Austria.

We are extremely pleased to promote Ed and Jim to their new positions, said Fuller. They have done an outstanding job in helping us grow outside the U.S. as well as supporting our current portfolio.

Nugent joined Marriott in 1980 as the assistant controller at the New Orleans Marriott. Since then, he opened the Panama City Marriott in 1983, was named controller at the Riyadh Marriott in 1987 and opened the Europe/Middle East office as the regional finance director in 1992. He played an integral role with the integration of the Renaissance Hotel Group`s accounting and finance operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Nugent earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1980 from Florida State University.

During the course of his 17 year career with Marriott, Mrha has held positions of increasing responsibility in accounting and finance. He began his career as the assistant controller at the Tampa Airport Marriott. Since then, he has served as assistant controller at the Miami Airport Marriott and Orlando World Center Marriott, controller at the Tampa Airport Marriott and Marriott`s Grand Hotel and director of finance at the Vienna Marriott. In 1996, he was named the opening director of finance at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino.

Mrha earned a bachelor of science degree in finance in 1984 from Florida Atlantic University. Both Nugent and Mrha have been an essential part of Marriott`s growth during the last 10 years. There are more than 1,600 hotels spanning 10 lodging brands in the Marriott lodging portfolio worldwide.
