Hogan Appointed Director, Education And Training

Best Western International announces the appointment of John J. Hogan, CHA, MHS as director, Education and Training. In his new position, Hogan will be responsible for creating, planning and facilitating educational and training services and workshops for Best Western owners, operators and headquarters staff.

Hogan comes to Best Western International with 27 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Serving as an independent consultant for the past 13 years, Hogan’s responsibilities included designing and developing training programs in the U.S., the Caribbean and Canada. He conducted training seminars for hotels, hospitality associations and management groups. His work included the creation of programs for operations, customer service, marketing, management training and he has collaborated with universities and colleges in academic program development. The AH&MA recognized his work as a national columnist with the Peabody Award for Excellence in Hospitality Journalism.

Hogan has held senior management positions at Park Suite Hotel (now Embassy Suites) and the Sheraton Nashville in Tenn., Omni/Dunfey Atlanta Hotel in Atlanta, Ga., and ITT Sheraton Corporation in Houston, Texas and Boston, Mass., winning ITT international awards of excellence in 1982-1984 for general management, marketing, renovation and service.
Hogan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and is a certified hotel administrator. He has served as an adjunct professor for the past 20 years at several universities, including Belmont in Nashville and Newbury College in Boston.
