First Launch of Video On Demand and High-Speed Internet Access for Condominiums

Destination Resorts Hawaii, Inc. announces the August launch of its new “GuestWave” digital guest services. The new digital cable, video on demand, and High-Speed Internet access services will be available to guests staying in Destination Resorts Hawaii vacation rental condominiums located in the exclusive Wailea and Makena golf and tennis resorts on the south coast of Maui.
For a nominal fee, the GuestWave Video On Demand service will provide resort condominium guests with access to a library of over one hundred and eighty movies that can be paused, fast-forwarded, or reversed like a VCR. Guests will also be able to order optional services on a weekly basis including High-Speed Internet access, HBO on demand and five other premium channels.
The GuestWave launch marks the first time in North America that full feature Video On Demand movies and High-Speed Internet access will be available to resort condominium guests. The new GuestWave service is the result of two years of development by Destination Resorts Hawaii, HawaiiWave High Speed Wireless Networks, and Oceanic Time Warner Cable.

The service will be initially launched at three Destination Resorts Hawaii resort properties as part of a ninety-day beta test. Deployment to all six of Destination Resorts Hawaii Maui properties is planned for late October 2002.

“We are very proud to be one of the first condominium management companies to offer these enhanced digital services to our guests and we’re pleased that we have played a part in the early testing and development with HawaiiWave and Oceanic Time Warner Cable.” said Maynard Torchiana, General Manager and Executive Vice President for Destination Resorts Hawaii, Inc.
Norman Santos, Vice President of Operations for Oceanic Time Warner Cable, called the launch of the new service, “a major first step in providing new digital services to the condominium segment of the hospitality industry in Hawaii.” For further information please call Destination Resorts Hawaii toll free from the U.S. or Canada 1.800.367.5246 or 808.891.6200 or visit the website at www.drhmaui.com.
