Sabre Introduces New Ground Transportation Functionality in Sweden

Swedish travel agents connected to the Sabre® global distribution system are now able to book and ticket ground transport between the country`s airports and the major cities they serve. Tickets for airport rail, limousine, taxi and bus services can now be printed in travel agencies.

Sabre
has worked closely with Scandinavian Airline Systems to develop the new functionality.  Ground transport details are included in the customer`s passenger name record (PNR), together with all flight, hotel, car hire and other travel information.  The system works in conjunction with Sabre`s existing rail product and agents can make onward bookings on most major Swedish rail services.

The application is free and can be downloaded easily from the Internet from Sabre`s eServices website.  Sabre has working closely with all its Swedish travel agency customers to ensure they know how to download and use the new service.  They have also been closely involved in the development of this key product.

“Our objective is to get all our 300 Swedish travel agency customers using the new functionality by the end of the year” said Dawnne Unger, Sabre`s managing director for the Nordic region.

Ms Unger said the Swedish ground transportation functionality was another major break-through for Sabre in the delivery of local content to its customers.

“For a long time we have had the most sophisticated product offering of any of the global distribution systems in the region, particularly when it comes to products that help travel agencies market themselves and differentiate themselves from the competition” she said.

“We were missing this basic element, though.  Now that this is in place it allows us to move forward and capture even greater market share”.
