Responsible Tourism.com to Boost Eco-Tourism Online

Green Globe 21, a global sustainable tourism company is to enable eco-friendly travel providers to sell sustainable tourism products, including accommodation and packages, across a new website powered by TraveLLusions the browser-based operator system pioneered by Illusions Online
.

Due to be launched to coincide with the UN`s Earth Summit
in Johannesburg this week,  ResponsibleTourism.com
will let Green Globe 21`s travel provider members sell online to travel agents and consumers, products that adhere to Green Globe`s certified sustainability standards and promote socially responsible tourism. Agents will earn commission on every booking made.

Green Globe, which launched the first ever global ecotourism standard with the Australian Ecotourism Association earlier this year is incorporating the World Tourism Organisation`s Global Code of Ethics into it`s system. The organisation`s goal is to encourage tourism suppliers and travellers themselves to act in a responsible way towards destination communities and their inhabitants. The code is particularly important to ensure that tourism to developing countries helps improve living standards and reduce poverty, without disrupting local culture and tradition.

The new site will feature those companies who commit to the unique Green Globe benchmarking and certification processes and also embrace the WTO Global Code of Ethics in their management policies.

ResponsibleTourism.com will be powered by TraveLLusions, the browser-based operator system created by Illusions Online, which will deliver real time online bookings. Because the solution incorporates browser-based technology throughout its core operating system, Green Globe?fs members will be able to access the system across the internet without the need for expensive hardware.

In addition, because the system is built using XML, Green Globe will be able to integrate the solution with the diverse third-party reservations systems used by its members that include hotels, tourist boards and tour operators.

Commented Illusions Online Europe`s general manager Lucy Redmond-Lyon: “Responsible tourism is both a challenge and a business opportunity for the travel industry. We?fre keen to be involved in such a forward-thinking venture and are pleased that TraveLLusions can play a small part in helping make it a reality for travel providers across the globe”.

The website will be managed and marketed by Travel Transaction Processors (TTP), one of Europe`s leading travel transaction management and marketing companies. TTP is the company behind one of the largest online hotel accommodation distribution solutions, enabling travel agents to book over 100,000 hotels worldwide.

Said Green Globe 21 Chairman Geoffrey Lipman: “The Earth Summit will focus on ways to improve the plight of people in the developing world - responsible tourism can be an important contributor and we hope to encourage its growth. TraveLLusions` power and accessibility means our website will help communities and companies market and sell genuine sustainable and responsible tourism to interested travellers, wherever they are in the world”.
