America West Announces Enhancements

PRNewswire-FirstCall PHOENIX Nov. 19 :

America West Airlines today announced that it has leased two gates, hired
55 employees and established a newly automated ticket counter at
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The airline has brought its
customer and fleet service functions in-house and will utilize 10
state-of-the-art check-in kiosks to support the airline`s growing
operation at DFW, which has increased by more than 50 percent since the
airline implemented its business-friendly fare structure in March 2002.

“With our current flight schedule, we believe we`ve reached the point of
critical mass, and it now makes good business sense to bring our customer
handling in-house and lease our own facilities. We look forward to
streamlining the check-in process at DFW and believe that those
efficiencies, when combined with our new fare structure, will encourage
more travelers to try America West,” said Anthony Mule, senior vice
president, customer service.

“Last but certainly not least, we welcome America West`s 50 newest team
members who join us in Dallas. We are pleased they have elected to join
our airline at such an exciting time in our history.”

America West`s ticket counters will be located in Concourse B at Dallas
Fort Worth International Airport and the airline will operate at gates
B-23 and B-24. Customers may use America West`s kiosks to check in for
their flight, select or change a seat assignment, upgrade to first class
(if available), add their frequent flyer number to the reservation record,
obtain a boarding pass and print an electronic ticket receipt. The average
customer check-in time for America West`s kiosks is two minutes and
customer use of the airline`s kiosks has increased dramatically in the two
years since America West first installed them in its Phoenix hub.

“We are pleased to launch our newly designed check-in kiosk to our Dallas
customers,” continued Mule. “In fact, Dallas represents the first station
to house the new kiosks and over the next 15 months, we plan to install
similar kiosks in all of our markets. The redesigned kiosks are part of
our `Airport of the Future` initiative that incorporates efficient
customer check-in processes with airport and facility logistics.”

Founded in 1983 and proudly celebrating its 20-year anniversary in 2003,
America West Airlines is the nation`s second largest low-fare airline and
the only carrier formed since deregulation to achieve major airline
status. America West`s 13,000 employees serve nearly 55,000 customers a
day in 92 destinations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
