Union Carriers Selected by Democrats

PRNewswire WASHINGTON Oct. 21 :

The Democratic National Convention Committee announced the selection of
United Airlines and US Airways, two highly unionized carriers, as the
official airlines of the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

“After enduring nearly four years of the White House`s anti-worker agenda,
we applaud the DNC for showing its support for unionized workers—in a
very significant way,” said Association of Flight Attendants International
President Patricia Friend. “The past two years have been very difficult
for the workers in the airline industry. But the unionized employees at
both United Airlines and US Airways are committed to the highest level of
safety, security and service and the DNC has sent a strong message by
selecting airlines where a majority of employees fight for better jobs and
benefits through unions.”
The Convention will be held July 26-29, 2004, in Boston.
