Non-stop flights from Vienna to Yangon will operate every Tuesday, while the return flight will operate via Phuket to Vienna. This ‘triangular’ flight will give passengers the opportunity to effortlessly combine cultural and beach holidays. The flight will be served by a Lauda Air Boeing 767-300 ER, equipped with the most modern information technologies such as online shopping, SMS, e-mail, fax service on board and much more. In addition to Casablanca in Morocco and Nairobi in Kenya, Yangon is the third new destination in the Austrian carrier’s winter holiday schedule.

Myanmar - ‘land of the golden pagodas’ - is covered in a series of entirely unspoilt landscapes. These include the River Ayeyarwady, snaking through the country like a vital line of communication, the majestic Lake Inle, the countless temples of the Bagan and Mandalay regions and the world-famous golden rocks. The stunning beaches of what is known as ‘Buddha’s favourite country’ recently opened up to the tourist industry.

Mr. Thomas Suritsch, Managing Director of Lauda Air, said the following about Myanmar as a new travel destination: ‘As well as the immediate economic side, adopting new destinations also can give us a good idea of new trends in travel. The incredible cultural and physical qualities of a number of lesser-known countries in south-east Asia are becoming more popular all the time amongst travellers. Lauda Air is setting new standards - not just in-flight but also in planning destinations for holiday flights.
