Connexion by Boeing Names Director

SEATTLE, October 3, 2002 - Connexion by Boeing, a business unit of The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA), has announced that Beverly Wyse, 40, has been named director of the newly formed Deployment and Installation organization. In her new role Wyse will lead a team responsible for the planning and implementation of the Connexion by BoeingSM service on aircraft, production incorporation and installation design procurement decisions.

Wyse previously served as the director of Program Management for the Boeing 757 aircraft program within Boeing Commercial Airplanes, to which she was appointed in 2000. In that capacity, she was responsible for all aspects of business operations, program and project management and delivery of customer commitments. Previously she served as senior manager for the Boeing twin-aisle aircraft programs.

Connexion by Boeing President Scott Carson said, “Beverly brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding of commercial aviation customer requirements to our team. Her contributions will help ensure we successfully integrate and deliver a highly robust Connexion by Boeing service to our airline customers.”

Wyse received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington. She also has participated in the Boeing Executive Development Program at the Leadership Center in St. Louis, Mo.

Connexion by Boeing is a mobile information services provider bringing broadband data services to commercial and executive aircraft during flight, allowing passengers to have access to e-mail, e-commerce, the Internet, firewall-protected intranets, television, news and entertainment content, and transmission and receipt of data. Aircraft operators also benefit from in-flight access to aircraft and crew data.


The service is currently available to the executive services market in the U.S., which includes operators of private and government aircraft. Connexion by Boeing also remains on track for a three-month service demonstration with Lufthansa in early 2003 followed by a similar service trial with British Airways. In addition, Japan Airlines was recently announced as Connexion by Boeing`s initial customer in Asia with an agreement to install the system on 10 of its long-range aircraft.
