Delta Shuttle Introduces Industry-Leading Triple Guarantee

ATLANTA, Sept. 26, 2002—Delta Shuttle today announced it will offer customers a Triple Guarantee from Sept. 30, 2002, to Dec. 31, 2002. For customers traveling from New York City to Boston or Washington, D.C., the Delta Shuttle Triple Guarantee backs up Delta’s promise to get them quickly through the airport and on their way. SkyMiles members also will continue to earn triple base miles, good toward elite status, for each one-way flight flown through Dec. 31, 2002.
The Delta Shuttle Triple Guarantee combines the current promotion of “20 Minutes or 20,000 Miles” and the guaranteed seat policy with a new guarantee that promises customers the following: if a Delta Shuttle aircraft pushes back from the gate more than five minutes beyond scheduled departure time, customers will be awarded 1,500 base SkyMiles, good toward elite status. Terms and conditions apply to all Delta Shuttle guarantees. See below for details.
“Our customers have conveyed to us that an on-time departure is the most important element of their travel experience,” said Maureen Brady, managing director - Delta Shuttle and Delta Express. “By offering the Triple Guarantee, we’re letting our customers know that we’re listening to them and that we’re not only committed to expediting them from check-in to gate in 20 minutes or less, but, we also guarantee their flight will depart on time when they fly the Delta Shuttle.”
The current “20 Minutes or 20,000 Miles” promotion guarantees customers they will arrive from ticket counter or self-service kiosk check-in to the gate in 20 minutes or less, or they will receive 20,000 miles in Delta’s SkyMiles program. The “20 Minutes, 20,000 Miles” promotion has been in effect since April 15, 2002. In addition, the Delta Shuttle’s long-standing guaranteed seat policy states that customers who arrive at the gate at least five minutes prior to scheduled departure, and the flight is full, will be guaranteed a seat. Delta Shuttle will operate another aircraft to the destination within 15 minutes, or customers will receive a free ticket.

The Delta Shuttle Triple Guarantee promotion will be highlighted in a new Delta Shuttle advertising campaign which begins Sept. 30, 2002. The campaign, which advertises “on time. guaranteed.”, leverages radio, print and taxi top mediums to communicate the Triple Guarantee to current and potential Delta Shuttle customers. Ads will run in the Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C. markets.
