US Airways Traffic Up 12.6 Percent For February

US Airways reported today that revenue passenger miles for February 2001 were up 12.6 percent compared to February 2000, while available seat miles for the month increased 9.7 percent. The passenger load factor for the month was 64.5 percent, an increase of 1.7 percentage points compared to February 2000.

For the first two months of 2001, revenue passenger miles were up 18 percent compared to the same period in 2000, while available seat miles were up 15 percent year-over-year. The passenger load factor for the period was 62.3 percent, an increase of 1.6 percentage points compared to 2000.


The four wholly owned subsidiaries of US Airways Group, Inc.—Allegheny Airlines, Inc.; Piedmont Airlines, Inc.; Potomac Air; and PSA Airlines, Inc.—reported that revenue passenger miles for February were down 6.9 percent compared to February 2000, while available seat miles for the month were down 5.6 percent. The passenger load factor for the month was 51.5 percent, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points compared to February 2000.


For the first two months of 2001, US Airways Express revenue passenger miles were down 1.9 percent compared to the same period in 2000, while available seat miles were up 0.6 percent. The passenger load factor for the period was 48.3 percent, a decrease of 1.2 percentage points from 2000.
