Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV)
announced today that the Company flew 3.4 billion revenue passenger miles
(RPMs) in January 2001, a 19.5 percent increase from the 2.8 billion RPMs
flown in January 2000.  Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 14.8 percent to
5.4 billion from the January 2000 level of 4.7 billion.  The load factor for
the month was 62.5 percent, up 2.4 points from the same period last year.
