SriLankan Airlines Wins Premier Gold Award For Advertising “Campaign Of The Year”

SriLankan Airlines` advertising and promotional material won coveted awards at the SLIM Awards last week.

SriLankan Airlines` advertising agency Grant McCann Erickson won the premier Gold Award for “Campaign of the Year”, “The Joy of the Journey”. They also bagged two more Golds for Corporate Image and Entertainment / Leisure and a Bronze Award for Corporate Print.

Their PR agency Bates Strategic Alliance bagged the Silver for Entertainment/Leisure TV advertisement (advertising SriLankans` Golf Classic overseas) and for Best Web Design (again for information on the SriLankan Golf Classic).

The Airline`s current advertising campaign sought to portray the re-branded SriLankan Airlines as a hi-tech international airline with a special Sri Lankan warmth. “We were as excited about the re-branding and image building as was SriLankan and it was important to effectively communicate this message not only in Sri Lanka but throughout SriLankan Airlines` route network, and it seems that we did,” says Grant McCann Erickson`s Managing Director, Neela Marikkar.

SriLankan focuses on developing Sri Lanka as a destination for sports and adventure travel holidays as an alternative to leisure travel and therefore its Golf Classic is a premier event on its calendar. `The Golf Classic TV ad focused on scoring the exceptional event.” Says Bates Strategic Alliance Creative Director, Digby Hill. “Web design sought to entice not only golfers but holiday makers as well.”
