12th Aug 2002

Northwest Airlines today announced that it has matched American Airlineså’ unpublished business fare discount program offering reductions ranging from 5% on lower-priced restrictive business fares, to 10% on the higher, completely unrestricted business fares.
Northwest is offering this unpublished business fare discount program through all travel agencies. The 5-10% discounts are also available to consumers who purchase their tickets directly from Northwest, including its Web site, reservations centers, or city and airport ticket offices.
“This program offers discounts to every travel agency in the country,” said Tom Bach, vice president of pricing and yield management. “We have restored our previous fare levels, but are now offering unpublished discounts of up to 10% on business fares, similar to a competitor.”
Northwest Airlines is the world`s fourth largest airline with hubs at Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Memphis, Tokyo and Amsterdam and more than 1,700 daily departures. With its travel partners, Northwest serves nearly 750 cities in almost 120 countries on six continents.
