For the second consecutive year, America
West (NYSE: AWA) was named the number one airline in the Senior Choice Awards
conducted by Arizona Senior World Newspapers.  This readers-choice award once
again recognizes America West`s full service and value fares.
 
“We are honored to be named the favorite airline by readers of the Arizona
Senior World Newspapers,” said Mike Smith, senior vice president, marketing
and sales.  “In addition to our everyday low fares, our Senior Savor Pack
product continues to be a big hit with senior travelers.”

America West offers several programs designed for the senior market
including the Senior Saver Pack coupon book for seniors age 62 and older.  The
coupons can be used for travel on any America West operated flight in the 48
contiguous United States and between the 48 contiguous United States and
Vancouver, British Columbia.  The flight coupons are also transferable to a
maximum of two children between the ages of two and 12 when flying with the
senior traveler.  The package also features additional benefits including an
America West Vacations(R) land package coupon and car rental coupons.  As
always, seniors flying on Senior Saver Pack coupons earn valuable frequent
flyer miles in America West`s FlightFund(R) program.  In addition, the package
also offers a coupon for seniors to earn 500 bonus miles.
 
Additionally for seniors age 62 and older, America West offers a 10
percent discount off published fares (certain restrictions apply).  Some
markets offer seniors age 65 and older a published discount fare.
 
90 destinations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.  For the second
consecutive year, America West ranked the number one carrier in customer
satisfaction for short flights in the Frequent Flyer magazine/J.D. Power and
Associates Airline Customer Satisfaction Study-U.S. Flights.  America West
also ranked number one in baggage handling as recorded in the 1997 Air Travel
Consumer Report published by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
