Continental Airlines Reports Record June Load Factor

Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A) today reported a systemwide load factor of 76.0 percent in June, the highest June load factor in Continental`s history and 1.0 point above last June, the previous record.

In June 1999, Continental flew 5.2 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and 6.8 billion available seat miles (ASMs), resulting in a traffic increase of 10.9 percent on a capacity increase of 9.4 percent versus June 1998. International traffic was 1.9 billion RPMs, up 21.8 percent from June 1998 and international capacity was 2.4 billion ASMs, up 16.4 percent from last year.


Continental Express, Continental`s wholly owned regional subsidiary, again reported its highest load factor in company history of 66.4 percent, beating the previous record set in May 1999 by 1.5 points, based on 185.9 million RPMs and 280.2 million ASMs. Continental Express June traffic was up 37.0 percent and June capacity was up 30.0 percent from last year.
