British Airways confirmed today that it had contacted the European Commission as a courtesy to inform it of the airline`s intention to hold discussions with KLM.

The discussions between the two airlines are only about limited, short-term schedule co-ordination in the wake of the current crisis.

British Airways has not sought or received authority from the European Commission to engage in schedule co-ordination at present.
