“FlightLine” in Gourmet Restaurant Above the Clouds

North Sea shrimps garnished with horseradish yoghurt and pickled cauliflower florets, bouillabaisse of North Sea fish in a saffron stock and, to follow, Sylt butter pudding with apricot compote å- these are some of the light gourmet dishes that will be offered in Lufthansa First Class and Business Class during the months of July and August.
Johannes King and J̦rg MÌ?ller from the North Sea island of Sylt will be launching the new “FlightLine” in the Star Chefs programme. Their restaurants, the Șlring Hof and the Gourmet Restaurant J̦rg MÌ?ller, are regarded as the address in Germany for connoisseurs of fine food and wine.

“With FlightLine we are taking account of the needs of many frequent flyers to enjoy exquisite food while travelling, without eating heavy meals,” says Thomas Sattelberger, Executive Vice President Product and Service at Lufthansa German Airlines. The innovative, light line in the Star Chefs programme will also be reflected in the new crockery in First Class. Hors d`oeuvres, for example, will be served on an étagère specially designed for inflight service - a loving detail for gourmets. Fish dishes will be served on a fish plate while various salads will look fresh and light served on a glass plate.

From September, one of the three main dishes in Business Class and one of the four main dishes in First Class will be offered as a FlightLine menu, which will change every two months. In each case the FlightLine offer will be marked accordingly. The culinary Star Chefs highlights will be prepared by LSG Sky Chefs, the undisputed world leader in airline catering. The innovative Lufthansa subsidiary is renowned for its quality and service and thus offers the top chefs an ideal platform for sophisticated creations. In the selection of appropriate wines Lufthansa will be supported by Markus del Monego, a winner of the title “World`s Best Sommelier”.
