Delta Air Lines Announces New Codeshare Service to Mexico

ATLANTA, May 10, 2002—Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) today announced new codeshare service on Aerolitorals four-day-a-week service between Ontario, Cail., and Hermosillo, Mexico, and on Aeromexicos four-day-a-week service between New Yorks JFK International Airport and Monterrey, Mexico. The Ontario-Hermosillo codeshare is effective immediately, and the New York-Monterrey service will begin July 8. 

“With these two additional codeshare routes, we continue to increase our presence in Mexico by expanding our relationship with Aerolitoral, Deltas newest codeshare partner in the region, and Aeromexico, Mexicos largest carrier,” said Arnaldo Ruiz, Deltas general manager, Alliances - The Americas, “Deltas codeshare expansion, with both carriers, is consistent with our overall Latin American strategy—to provide customers the most convenient travel options between the United States and Mexico.”
Delta places its code more than 300 daily Aeromexico and Aerolitoral flights, to 36 cities in Mexico and from 16 gateways in the U.S. including, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, El Paso, Texas; Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Ontario, Orlando, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, San Diego, and Tucson, Ariz. Delta`s SkyMiles members and Aeromexicos Club Premier members can earn miles by flying any of the two carriers eligible flights.

Aerolitoral, headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico, is Mexicos leading regional airline operating 220 flights each day to 36 destinations in Mexico and the United States Founded in 1989, Aerolitoral is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the CINTRA group with a strong commercial relationship with Aeromexico.  The carriers fleet is made up of 31 aircraft including 16 SAAB 340s and 15 Fairchild Metros.
