United, District 141 Ratify Contract Proposal


(CHICAGO) May 10, 2002 —United Airlines` (NYSE:UAL) 23,000 public contact, ramp service, stores, food service and security employees represented by IAM District 141 today ratified the tentative agreement reached with the company late last month.  Separately, IAM-represented public contact employees of Mileage Plus, Inc., also ratified their tentative agreement.  United`s Chief Executive Officer Jack Creighton issued the following statement:
“I am very pleased that our IAM 141-represented employees have voted to accept the tentative agreements the company and the IAM reached on April 25.  With this vote, United Airlines takes another major step forward in its quest for recovery.  Only through the cooperative efforts of all of us at United can we return to our rightful place as the leader in the airline industry.  I am particularly pleased to assure our customers that they can continue to book future travel on United with full confidence.


“Our next goal is to work collectively and creatively with our union leadership and all employee groups to continue our recovery strategy.
